In 1883, the Vicomte Charles de Foucauld (1858 - 1916) decides to resign from the French army and leave to adventure, braving all the dangers, to achieve the exploration of A country then almost totally unknown, the Cherifian Empire.

Accompanied by the Moroccan rabbi Mardorandy Abi Seror , financing the operation on his personal fortune, he will walk on foot, disguised in Moroccan Jewish, nearly 3000 kilometers from June 1883 to May 1884, Levant In Morocco almost so much ground new as all its predecessors gathered (Charles Maunoir).

On his return, he is received in Hero in Paris where the prestigious geography society awards his gold medal. He will put more than three years to write the minutes of his trip, making it public a harvest of new information (Henry Duveyrier), who will do authority for decades.

His work, Recognition in Morocco , will remain the reference until the Second World War. But, if thousands of books have been published, mostly devoted to the spiritual message of Father de Foucauld, since his tragic death on 1 December 1916, thus forging a true legend leading to his beatification by Pope Benedict XVI in 2005, no one had, until now, attempting to reconstitute the itinerary of its gratitude to Morocco , by borrowing as much as possible the same tracks, crossing the same passes, visiting the same localities.

Two years were needed to perform this guide that is both practical and historical, which will allow its users of browse Morocco otherwise, off the beaten track and major tourist circuits.
